Fashion Icon Kate Spade Commits Suicide

The world, especially fashion lovers, were shocked to learn on Tuesday that Kate Spade had committed suicide.

The fashion designer was found dead at the age of 55 in her Park Ave apartment hanging by a scarf.

Officials have said it was the housekeeper that found Spade hanging in her bedroom and with a note left behind.

It was later revealed that the note had been directed at the designer’s 13 year old daughter, Frances Beatrix Spade, and it wanted to tell her she was not to blame and that she should ask her father.

Kate Spade was acquired by Neiman Marcus back in 2007 for $125 million. It was sold again to Coach’s Tapestry Inc. last year for $2.4 billion.

A representative for Kate Spade said in a statement, “We at Kate Spade New York just learned of the incredibly sad news that Kate Spade has passed. Although Kate has not been affiliated with the brand for more than a decade, she and her husband and creative partner, Andy, were the founders of our beloved brand. Kate will be dearly missed. Our thoughts are with Andy and the entire Spade family at this time.”
