World Reknown DJ Avicii is Dead at the Age of 28

Avicii has been known across the world for his DJing so it came as a surprise to many fans on Friday to find out that the performer has died at the age of 28.

The Grammy-nominated electronic dance DJ, who was born in Sweden as Tim Bergling, was found dead in Muscat, Oman, according to his publicist Diana Baron.

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii,” read the statement. “The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.”

No details were given on how he died and according to Oman police and state media, there no was no immediate report on his death.

Avicii had seven Top 10 hits on the dance charts and had retired in 2016 from touring.

Nile Rodgers, an American record producer, commented, “‘m shocked because I don’t know medically what happened, but I can just say as a person, as a friend, and more importantly, as a musician, Tim was one of the greatest, natural melody writers I’ve ever worked with, and I’ve worked with some of the most brilliant musicians on this planet.”

“Something really horrible happened. We lost a friend with such a beautiful heart and the world lost an incredibly talented musician,” French DJ Guetta wrote on Instagram. “Thank you for your beautiful melodies, the time we shared in the studio, playing together as djs or just enjoying life as friends. RIP @avicii.”
