Carrie Fisher’s untimely death this past Christmas shocked fans all over the world. Many fans are wondering what will happen to Princess Leia’s character in the Star Wars franchise?

According to reports, Disney may soon be collecting $50 million in an insurance policy the company had on Fisher.

According to Insurance Insider, in the event that Fisher became unable to fulfill her contractual obligations to
portray Princess Leia in the newest slate of Star Wars films, a policy stipulated that Disney could receive a $50-million payout.

New Jersey agency for Lloyd’s of London underwrote the policy. Episode IX of Star Wars has yet to begin, and is the movie that leaves fans wondering how Disney will approach her death and absence in the franchise. Fisher had already completed her work for the upcoming Episode VIII film.

This payout for Disney would be the insurance industry’s highest ever single-person accident claim if it happens.
