Amazon’s (AMZN) Shopping Season This Year Is Going Down In History

Amazon.com Inc. just announced that the holiday shopping season in 2016 was the best the company has ever seen.

Amazon shipped more than 1 billion items this holiday season through its Prime and Fulfillment services. It also received a record number of orders on its Alexa devices.

The company released a statement on Tuesday saying, “Sales for Echo speakers based on Alexa’s voice-recognition software were nine times more than the 2015 holiday season.”

According to Amazon, more than 70% of its users placed an order using their mobile device during the holiday.

Amazon shares are up 13 percent this year through Friday.
