Women-only Screenings of “Wonder Woman” Have Many Men Upset

Chances are if it was the opposite sexes in this article, that there would be a lot more backlash than there already is. Apparently the Alamo Drafthouse announced on Wednesday that it would be hosting “women-only” screenings of “Wonder Woman.”

The theater wrote on its website, “Apologies, gentlemen, but we’re embracing our girl power and saying ‘No Guys Allowed’ for one special night at the Alamo Ritz.”

“And when we say ‘People Who Identify As Women Only,’ we mean it. Everyone working at this screening — venue staff, projectionist, and culinary team — will be female.”

Tickets already sold out for the event across the country.

Many are not happy though and have called the move sexist and going against equality. Mike Canales Great left a comment to the theater saying, “Let us know when you have guys-only screenings of Thor, Spider-Man, Star Wars, etc. Let’s see you walk the walk now that you set this precedence.”

The theater defended itself and said it often provides special screenings for certain groups. Some locations are even going to donate proceeds from the women-only screenings to charities that help women.
