McDonald’s Chicken Nuggets Helped Capture The Facebook Killer

Steve Stephens shot himself after finally being captured by police, but it was McDonald’s chicken nuggets that helped police finally locate the murderer.

Stephens had been on the run after he posted a video onto Facebook of him killing an elderly man named Robert Godwin Sr.
Even people on the run get hungry, so Stephens stopped at a McDonald’s in Erie, Pennsylvania where he wanted to pick up a chicken mcnugget meal with fries.

Thankfully an employee recognized the killer and while he waited in his vehicle for his order, the worker notified the police.

Restaurant owner Thomas DuCharme and a supervisor tried stalling him by telling him his fries were delayed but Stephens shouted, “I can’t wait! I need my McNuggets!” He then sped out of the car park but a pursuing trooper caught up with him. The trooper rammed Stephens’ bumper to get him to stop.

As the police were getting out of their vehicles, a witness who had been nearly hit by Stephens said she heard a “loud and distinctive” shot.

Gail Wheeler, 54, a retail operations manager from Erie remarked, ”The next thing I know, they’re approaching the car. The one officer just shook his head. He was closest to the car.

“They had their guns out but when he shook his head, they lowered their guns.”

According to state police major William Teper, the trooper who rammed Stephens’ car “saw him pull the gun out and shoot himself”.
