It was a grim day for ‘The Situation’ on hit reality TV show ‘Jersey Shore’ on Friday.

The cast member whose real name is Michael Sorrentino, received a sentence of eight months from a federal judge for tax fraud.

Sorrentino and his brother Marc had pleaded guilty this past January and had been charged in 2014 with tax offenses that were related to almost $9 million in income. His brother Marc had received a 2 year sentence.

‘The Situation’ took to Instagram after the sentencing and said, “We are very happy to put this behind us. Thank you So much for all the Love & Support.”

Michael had pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion and admitted concealing his income in 2011 by making cash deposits in amounts that wouldn’t trigger federal reporting requirements.

His brother Marc had pleaded guilty to one count of assisting in the preparation of a false return.

Michael apologized to the court during brief remarks and said he has overcome substance abuse.
