Here’s The Shocking Reason Why People Are Pissed About Casey Affleck’s Oscar Nomination

Casey Affleck’s Oscar nomination for Best Actor in Manchester by the Sea is a big slap to many women right now. He already won the Golden Globe earlier this month.

Affleck was sued in 2010 for sexual harassment by two former co-workers from ill-fated experimental mockumentary I’m Still Here, which he directed.

Amanda White, the film’s producer, and cinematographer Magdalena Gorka filed separate lawsuits but both claimed that Affleck and other crew members sexually harassed them with inappropriate sexual comments and unwanted advances.

Affleck settled both suits out of court.

Many took to their Twitter to oppose the nomination, including actress Constance Wu, who wrote, “Men who sexually harass women 4 OSCAR! Bc good acting performance matters more than humanity, human integrity!Bc poor kid rly needs the help!”
