Sears Signs Another Deal with Amazon for Car Batteries

It was revealed on Thursday that Sears Holdings has landed another deal with Amazon where it will be selling car batteries and tires.

The retailer will be selling items from its DieHard brand on Amazon.

The first deal Sears scored with Amazon was this past summer in July when the company announced it would sell
appliances on the e-commerce giant’s website.

Shares of Sears were up over 1% in early morning trading on Thursday after the news.

“Launching on Amazon.com will significantly expand the distribution and availability of the DieHard brand in the U.S., building on the success of our recent Kenmore appliances launch on Amazon.com,” said Sear’s Kenmore, Craftsman, and DieHard brands president Tom Park.

Park had said to CNBC this past summer that the “Amazon platform is so broad and also focuses on the millennial generation.”

Sears announced that on Thursday its customers will be able to find battery related accessories on Amazon and that early next year the company will also sell its DieHard-branded tires and actual automotive batteries on the website.

Sears believes that its DieHard tires are “one of the leading tire brands” at its store.
