Amazon Announces the Cities that May Have its Next Head Quarters
Amazon announced on Thursday that Toronto, Canada has been added to the list of where it may put its second headquarters.
Canada is on a list of 20 cities, 19 being in the U.S. that could soon be home to the e-commerce giant’s next headquarters.
The headquarters is promised to have a $5 billion investment and would have 50,000 jobs created.
Adding Toronto to the list has been met with some worry, especially as President Trump may not be pleased with the location.
The director of the University of Toronto’s urban studies program, Shauna Brail, remarked, “There could be consequences politically for making a decision to invest outside of the U.S.”
Amazon is expected to make a decision later this year.
“The international politics is for Amazon to deal with,” said Toby Lennox, CEO of Toronto Global.
Lennox is the person who submitted the bid for Toronto and surrounding cities. “We are just going to put forward our best offer possible,” he said.
The full list of cities that are in the running are:

Chicago
Columbus, Ohio
Dallas
Denver
Indianapolis
Los Angeles
Miami
Montgomery County, Maryland
Nashville, Tennessee
Newark
