Uber Just Fired 20 People Over This

According to an Uber employee that is familiar with the situation, Uber Technologies Inc. has let go of 20 employees after a company internal investigation into harassment claims. Uber has not disclosed who was fired.

The employees fired were connected to an investigation that was conducted by law firm Perkins Cole that Uber had hired. The ride hailing company acted upon the law firm’s recommendations.

The source, who wants to remain unidentified, said that Bobbie Wilson, an attorney at Perkins Cole LLP, gave Uber’s more than 12,000 employees an assessment of the firm’s investigation on Tuesday.

Former United States Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. and his law firm had also been hired by Uber to conduct the investigation to look into harassment claims in the company’s workforce.

Holder has delivered his report to the board but the findings have not been released yet. His firm’s recommendations were to be given to a subcommittee of Uber’s board of directors, according to the source.

According to the source, in the Perkins Cole probe, 215 human-resource claims are being reviewed. There has been no action in 100 instances as it continues to investigate 57 others. The source also said that 31 employees are in counseling or training and seven had received written warnings from Uber.

The investigations stem from a blog post back in February, that was heavily circulated around the net and was written by a former Uber employee who said alleged sexual harassment and discrimination in the workforce.
