Trump Just Signed Executive Orders To Advance Dakota Access Pipelines

President Trump has wasted no time in office this week to piss people off.

The President has signed executive orders that will make it easier for TransCanada to construct the Keystone XL pipeline and for Energy Transfer Partners to build the final uncompleted portion of the Dakota Access pipeline.
The Keystone XL would bring oil from Alberta, Canada, to Nebraska, where it would connect to an existing pipeline to bring the crude to Illinois.

In a historic decision last year, former President Barack Obama and his administration delayed the Dakota Access Pipeline. According to Obama, the environmental review was not adequate in light of its route through the Sandhills ecosystem in Nebraska.

One of the biggest fears of those who have been protesting the pipeline is that the construction of the pipeline under Lake Oahe could leak into the water downstream. This means possibly contaminated drinking water. Not to mention the environmental hazzards the pipeline could create.

Celebrities like Mark Ruffalo and Ashley Judd were opponents of the pipeline as well as countless others. Those who are for it believe it will reduce our reliance on foreign oil from the Middle East. Canada is one of our closest allies.

Trump has said that both executive actions were subject to terms and conditions to be negotiated by the United States.

He has also signed three additional executive orders to expedite environmental reviews for “high priority infrastructure projects,” streamline the permitting process for domestic manufacturing and to insist pipeline companies buy materials from U.S. companies.
