Operator Of The Oakland Warehouse That Caught Fire Is Receiving Major Backlash For This Comment

At least 33 people have died in an Oakland warehouse fire this past weekend after a fire broke out during a party on Friday night.

The operator of the converted warehouse dubbed “Ghost Ship” took to his Facebook on Saturday morning after the tragedy. Derrick Ion Almena posted, “Everything I worked so hard for is gone.”

He also added, “Blessed that my children and Micah were at a hotel safe and sound … it’s as if I have awoken from a dream filled with opulence and hope … to be standing now in poverty of self worth.”

What about all the people who died? Do you not mourn them?

Many people were outraged at his insensitive comments. One user responded, “Not one mention of the people burned to death in your death trap building.”
