One of the biggest threats our world faces is people and the weapons they choose to harm others.

Multiple suicide bombs went off on Tuesday night at Istanbul’s Ataturk International Airport. Nearly 50 are dead and there are more than 60 people injured.

According to the country’s governor, three suicide bombers carried out the attack. Turkey’s justice minister said one of the bombers opened fire at the international terminal entrance and then blew himself up.

A senior Turkish official says that initially indications point to an Islamic State group being behind the airport attack while U.S. officials told NBC News’ Richard Engel that it’s “very likely” the attack was work of 35 terrorists ISIS sent to Turkey ahead of Ramadan.

The U.S. State Department said it is working to determine if Americans were among the victims.
