A Record Number Of People Are Now Supporting This

A new Gallup poll has just been released on how many American adults support the legalization of marijuana. The number is now at a record high with 60% of American adults being in favor. The poll was released just three weeks before voters in nine states, including California, will vote on whether or not to legalize the plant recreation-ally.

The most recent poll was based on telephone interviews conducted Oct. 5-9 with a random sample of 1,017 adults living in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. According to Gallup, the margin of error was plus or minus 4 percentage points. The first Gallup poll on this issue from 1969 had only 12% of Americans supporting legalization.

Today, Alaska, Colorado, Oregon, Washington state, and the District of Columbia, all legally allow the use of marijuana recreation-ally. On election day, California, Maine, Arizona, Massachusetts, and Nevada will be voting on whether or not to allow it.

Florida, Arkansas and North Dakota will have voters voting on whether or not to allow the plant for medical purposes, while Montana voters will vote on whether to ease restrictions on an existing medical marijuana law.
