Over 200 Dead in Mosque Attack in Egypt

It was a very tragic day in Egypt on Friday after a mosque was attacked in the country’s north Sinai region.

The Rawda mosque, which is located about 40 kilometers west of the North Sinai capital of El-Arish, was attacked the day after Americans celebrated Thanksgiving, by a bomb and gun attack.

The death told was as high as 235 according to State television reports and the number of wounded was at 109. It is the most deadliest attack in the country’s modern history, where hundreds of innocent worshipers were gunned down and detonated ina bomb.

There was no group taking responsibility for the attack yet.

According to a witness named Mohamed, “Four groups of armed men attacked the worshipers inside the mosque after Friday noon prayers. Two groups were firing at ambulances to deter them.”

Sisi said in an address on television, “The armed forces and the police will avenge our martyrs and restore security and stability with the utmost force.”

“What is happening is an attempt to stop us from our efforts in the fight against terrorism, to destroy our efforts to stop the terrible criminal plan that aims to destroy what is left of our region.”

U.S. President Donald Trump Tweeted on Friday, calling the attack a, “horrible and cowardly terrorist attack”.

“The world cannot tolerate terrorism, we must defeat them militarily and discredit the extremist ideology that forms the basis of their existence,” Trump wrote.
