Love her or hate her, Chewbacca mom is here to stay… at least for now. Her 15 minutes of fame have clearly not run up yet and her infectuous laugh even caught the attention of late show host James Corden.
Candace Payne recently went viral after she posted a Facebook video of herself wearing a talking Chewbacca mask. Her video became an overnight sensation for her unsparing laughter and joy over a simple Wookie mask. The video has now gotten over 140 million views and counting!
Next to Kohls surprising her with more toys and masks, Payne undeniably won the lottery by getting to meet Star Wars Director J.J. Abrams himself.
In “The Late Late Show” video segment “Chewbacca Mom Takes James Corden to Work” that posted Monday, she drives Corden to his job and on the way picks up his carpool buddy for the day. That buddy was no other than J.J. Abrams.
“I am such a J.J. Abrams fan, that blew my world away,” Payne told Corden later on.
Even the actor who plays plays Chewbacca in the “Star Wars” films, Peter Mayhew, had some kind words for Candace.
“Candace, you are an inspiration,” Mayhew wrote in a message. “Your attitude and lovely message really resonates and with spreading the good word of Star Wars with a heart, well it’s so much of why we do what we do.”
The world might be a little brighter if we all could find joy in such simple pleasures the way Chewbacca mom does.
